Shot by our own Stacey Garratt, we did this at the behest of one of the many grassroots organizations who are fighting in support of real health care reform.
Unfortunately, they ultimately opted not to go with a TV campaign, but we thought we might as well put it up here just for fun - enjoy! You can also see it on YouTube here. Pass it around!
We did this for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which oversees all 435 Congressional races every 2 years. This was for a "Red-To-Blue" event this year hosted by Gloria Steinem and targeting races in which Democratic women were running against incumbent Republicans.
The order came down Monday afternoon - for an event that Friday morning, and within three days (and with very little sleep) we were able to create a driving and inspirational music track and video. Everybody left energized, and the event exceeded its fundraising goal by over $50,000! (Kudos to Marcia Sudolsky and the whole team.)
We also want to give a "shout-out" to our regular vocalist Susan Didrichsen for doing a kick-ass job on the track - as usual. Susan was thrilled to meet Gloria Steinem - a childhood idol. Gloria is delightful!
We created this spot in August 2007 - long before anyone was giving Obama a chance of winning the nomination, let alone the presidency. Soon after the campaign saw our ad, Obama started using the "red states, blue states, United States" line again in his speeches, and his campaign started surging.
Whether our ad played a role or not in his making that change, it's nice to know we were at least on the same page!
